I think this last trade should be put to a vote
A starting Rb for a go nowhere wr plus a draft choice seems very week.
Start looking at my roster... if this stands I'll be gone

Hi Steve,

Normally I'd agree with you on getting a starting RB for a rookie WR and a 2nd round draft choice. The fact that the Tide is in my division and getting a starting RB doesn't exactly thrill me.  Plus, I'm sure I'll have to listen to his mouth.....

I'd be against this trade if Grant were the RB he was last year (I think that the whole league would be?), and if I were Patyon's Pack I would have probably shot for a 1st round pick.  And, yeah he possibly could have received more than he did, but....

Grant may have been ranked as a top 10 RB to start the season, but is as big a dissapointment as any RB out there.  He's currently ranked as the #35 RB, behind the other hugh dissapointment this year - Larry Johnson.  He has less points than Mewelde, Sammy Morris, Pittman, Dominic Rhodes, and even Julius Jones.  Grant has had 1 TD and 4 games under 10 points.  Obviously that could change and he could perform as he did last yaar and it would be a steal for the Tide or he'll keep performing like this year and Green Bay will be drafting a early round RB next year.  Besides, Devin Thomas was the highest rated rookie WR this year according to some, and could still turn into something.  Hopefully the Tide will keep losing and that 2nd round pick will at least be an early one!

If I had to vote on this, I'd probably vote that it's OK..

Anyway, just my thoughts.  I'd love to hear what others are thinking.

I think that is total 'Sour Grapes' CS - You have been trying for 2 years to trade me your backups for my starters - unfair trades that benefit YOU only!  Which is the general mentality of most FF owners.  Try to get a starter for one of your expendable players.  But, the real concept of a trade is to benefit both teams in some capacity - not necessarily try to prey on another teams weaknesses all the time.  In this instance as the Herd astutely observed - Grant is an underperforming RB who is basically a rookie for all intents and purposes being traded for the highest ranked WR in this past years draft who may flourish in the 2nd half of this season and probably next year for sure plus a 2nd round pick which is nothing to sneeze at.  So, if you feel you need to go cry to the commish please do so and do us all a favor while your wiping your tears and follow thru with your threat and 'be gone'!

CS......on stats alone your argument makes no sense.  Grant is averaging 3.3 yards a carry and has ONE TD this year.  Yeah, he had two good scoring weeks the last two weeks, but the Pack was way ahead in both games and he compiled 64 carries to get his 195 yards.  Some other great games he had this year: 15 carries for 20yds against the Lions and Buccaneers.  Any back only getting 20 yards against Detroit should be embarassed.

Devin Thomas may not be having a banner rookie year, but it is way to early to say he is a go nowhere wide receiver.  Part of that is the function of Clinton Portis having a phenomenal year and Washington's lack of a passing game.  My guess is that Zorn will turn that around and is building for the future with guys like Thomas.  Just as I am looking to build for the future by getting a rookie WR and draft pick.

I am in agreement with the Tide.  If you want to cry and whine than pack up and leave.  We pay our money to join this league just as you do.  At 1-7, my play is to try and build a winner for next year and Tide's is to try and make a last push for a playoff spot.  This is how keeper leagues work so deal with it.

Just a post this afternoon from a fantasy website that is of interest regarding the above trade!!  :-o

Surprises of 2007 coming up short

In five years on this job, I can't remember a trio that came out of nowhere more than Derek Anderson, Ryan Grant, and Earnest Graham last season. They went from off-the-radar to every-week fantasy starters in a matter of weeks. They weren't up-and-coming prospects or fallen sleepers with pedigrees; Graham and Grant were fourth-string running backs and Anderson started the year as a backup on a hopeless-looking team.

This year, they have fallen back to Earth. Graham remains a stellar running back, but Warrick Dunn is stealing his catches. He's lived up to his draft value well enough, but he's on pace to put similar numbers to last season. The difference: he only started ten times last year. I'd guess his owners are content, but not thrilled with him.

Grant and Anderson have been far more disappointing. I think the Browns need to beat Baltimore for Anderson to keep his job. I doubt they will. Despite a recent uptick, Anderson is 24th in fantasy points-per-game at quarterback. He trails Jeff Garcia and Matt Cassel. He was top-six last year.

Grant, like Anderson, is fighting for his career. He's played like a backup this season and needs to prove in the final nine games that he's the Packers' running back "of the future." The local rags are already saying he could be a bust, big contract and all. I would trade him now in dynasty leagues because I don't know what his role will be next season.
